Sakai (2011) discussed the taxonomic position of this species and mentioned the morphological differences between T. masoomi and type species of the genus Podocalichirus Sakai, 1999, namely Callianassa madagassa Lenz & Richters, 1881 . He assigned T. masoomi in the new genus Tirmizicallichirus Sakai, 2011 .
