Material examined (N=22). 1f, 19/IX/2000, 13°57’05”S / 38°59’68”W ( MZUESC #49); 4f, 07/VIII/2005, St. 0 5 ( MZUESC #646).

Distribution. Western Atlantic – from North Carolina to Florida, Gulf of Mexico, Central America, Antilles, Colombia, Venezuela, and Brazil (from Amapá to Rio Grande do Sul). Eastern Pacific – Mexico, Costa Rica, and Panama (D’Incao 1995b).

Ecological notes. Rocky, sandy, shell, and algae or seagrass bottoms, rarely on muddy bottoms. Oceanic, demersal species, occurring from shallow waters to 100 m. Most frequently found around 50 m deep (D’Incao 1995b).

Previous records in Bahia. Almeida et al. (2003).

Remarks. This species was first recorded from Bahia and Camamu Bay by Almeida et al. (2003).
