Type:— INDIA. Peninsula Ind. Orientalis, s.d., Wight 453 (lectotype E00174298 !, designated here; isolectotypes E00174299 !, E00174304 !, MH! Accession no. 7501 and P04538745 !) .

Residual syntypes: — INDIA. Without precise locality, s.d., Herb. Wight, Wallich cat. n. 4747 ( K001039812 ! and CAL!) ; Peninsula Ind. Orientalis, s.d., Wight 448 ( E00174296 !, E00174297 ! and E00174303 !) .

Distribution:— India, endemic (Kerala and Tamil Nadu).

Notes:— Wight & Arnott (1834) described Impatiens rufescens based on the collections of Wallich cat. n. 4747, Wight! cat. n. 448 and 453. Pertaining to the type specification provided in protologue, ten specimens were traced (CAL, E00174296 ‒ 00174299, E00174303, E00174304, K001039812, MH7501 and P04538745). Of these, the best preserved specimen, E00174298, is designated here as the lectotype as it agrees well with the protologue.
