Type citation:—“Anamallay Hills”, “Banks of the Toracadoo river, 4500 feet.”

Type:— INDIA. Anamallay [Anamalai] Hills, 4500 ‒ 5000 ft., s.d., Beddome s.n. (lectotype K 000694948!, designated here).

Residual syntype: — INDIA. Anamallay, 4000 ft., s.d., Beddome s.n. ( MH! Accession no. 7860).

Distribution:— India, endemic and rare (Kerala).

Notes:— Beddome (1859), while describing Impatiens wightiana formally, mentioned only precise locality. Two herbarium specimens of this species collected by Beddome were traced, one each at K (K000694948) and MH (Acccession no. 7860). The specimen K000694948, is designated here as the lectotype as it agrees well with the protologue and also in having dissected flower parts pasted on the sheet by Beddome and drawing of floral parts on the sheet by J.D. Hooker.
