Petinomys sagitta (Linnaeus 1766) View in CoL
[Sciurus] sagitta Linnaeus 1766 View in CoL , Syst. Nat., 12th ed., Vol. 1: 88.
Type Locality: Indonesia, Java.
Vernacular Names: Arrow Flying Squirrel.
Distribution: Java.
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Formerly included in Hylopetes ; see Medway (1977:102). May be conspecific with genibarbis ; see Ellerman and Morrison-Scott (1955:31). Medway (1977:102) considered it inadvisable to synonymize sagitta and genibarbis until the relationship has been certainly established. Corbet and Hill (1992) considered sagitta as incertae sedis.
