REMARKS: Seale (1917) was unaware of Bliss’s (1883) paper and redescribed some of the same species, including Gymnothorax elegans .

REMARKS: There may be more than one species currently passing under the name Gymnothorax eurostus . Further studies are needed.

REMARKS: Enchelycore tamarae appears to be a specimen of G. fimbriatus , judging from color pattern and dentition. The arched jaws are not definitive for the genus Enchelycore (see Smith et al. 2008).
