Type specimens. ɗ lectotype and 2ɗ, 4Ψ, & 2 juvenile paralectotypes ( MHNG) taken by an unknown collector on an unknown date at Moyopan, Veracruz, Mexico.

Diagnosis. With the characters of the genus.

Distribution. Known only from the type locality, but as the paper was going to press, the following sample was discovered containing a variant of P. o l m e c u s:

MEXICO, VERACRUZ: Ciudad Mendoza, 4ɗ, Ψ, 24 August 1964, J. & W. Ivie (AMNH, NCSM).

Remarks. Three internal fibrils in the ɗ syntype of " P." stylifer project externally beyond the apparently broken medial gonopod margin ( Fig. 13 ), a similar condition at a corresponding position to the external fibrils in the types of P. olmecus . In the syntype of " P." stylifer , a short seminal canal is visible that expands into a basal lumen, suggesting that a short groove is indeed present in P. olmecus .
