Type locality. The type specimen was described from an unknown collection locality.

Remarks. Boulard & Martinelli (1996) transferred the species along with G. bonaerensis to the newly erected genus Guyalna representing the only two species of the genus at that time. The species is listed by Boulard & Martinelli (1996) as the type species of the subtribe Guyalnina. However, according to Article 63 (ICZN 1999) the name bearing type for a family-group taxon is a nominal genus as the family-group taxon is based upon the genus (Article 29) so Guyalna is the type genus for the subtribe not G. chlorogena as stated in Boulard & Martinelli (1996). The timbal cover expanding over the lateral portion of the timbal cavity ( Fig. 7 ) supports the interpretation of timbal cover anatomy provided here as characteristic of the genus. The male opercula are larger than congeneric species with the posterior margin extending to form an approximate equilateral triangle rather than the usual right triangle shape of the opercula seen in other members of the genus. Body length 30–32 mm, fore wing length 43–45 mm.

Distribution. The species has been reported previously from Brazil ( Metcalf 1963; Sanborn 2013).
