Closterocerus sericeus Hartig, 1847: 18 . Type: lost.
Diagnosis. Body 19–28.5 mm; fore wing 19–21 mm; ovipositor 26–44 mm long.
Body black. Palpi dark brown. Fore coxa dark reddish brown; fore femur to tarsus brown. Mid coxa black; femur to tarsus brown to dark brown. Hind coxa black; femur to tarsus dark blackish brown. Antenna with 34 flagellomeres.
Face sparsely punctate. Head slightly swelling behind eyes in dorsal view. Frons with slight wrinkles. Malar space granulate, 0.25 × as long as mandible base. Pronotum granulate and matte. Speculum large and shiny; mesopleural pit present. Prepectal carina extending above lower corner of pronotum, curved forward, not reaching anterior margin of mesopleuron. Propodeum rugosely punctate, without carina. Hind fifth tarsus as long as third. First to third tergites elongate; fourth tergite quadrate. Petiole with spiracle before the middle of petiole. Dorsal lobe of ovipositor with five ridges.

Distribution. South Korea (new record), Austria, Bulgaria, Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Greece, Norway, Poland, Romania, Russia (Krasnoyarsk Kray), Serbia and Montenegro, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, U.S.A., Yugoslavia ( Yu et al., 2012).
Region. Eastern Palaearctic, Nearctic, Western Palaearctic.
