Ephialtes populneus Ratzeburg, 1848: 100 . Type: female; TD: lost.
Ephialtes abbreviates Thomson, 1877: 732 –777. Type: unknown; TD: unknown.
Diagnosis. Body 11 mm; fore wing 8 mm; ovipositor 14 mm long.
Body black. Palpi brown. Clypeus reddish brown. Legs reddish yellow except all trochanters yellow and hind tibia to tarsus brown; hind tibia darkened in apical 0.2. Antenna with 26 flagellomeres.
Face weakly granulate. Head slightly swelling behind eyes in dorsal view. Frons shiny and concave, without wrinkles. Malar space 0.3 × as long as mandible base. Pronotum weakly matte, without epomia. Speculum weakly matte and convex; mesopleural pit weakly present. Prepectal carina short, end at lower corner of pronotum. Propodeum rugosely punctate and without carina. Hind fifth tarsus shorter than third. Petiole with spiracle before the middle of petiole. First tergite shorter than second. Dorsal lobe of ovipositor with six to seven ridges.
Material examined. [ South Korea] [GB]: 1 ♀, Pohang-si, Jukjang-myeon, Haok-ri, 14.xi.2004, I.R. Sin.
Distribution. South Korea (new record), Belgium, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Russia (Primor'ye Kray, Yaroslavl Oblast), Spain, Sweden, Yugoslavia ( Yu et al., 2012).
Region. Eastern Palaearctic, Western Palaearctic.
