The type specimen of B. asperatus View in CoL is a male, while those of B. fuscipictus View in CoL and B. terricola View in CoL are females. Many of the characters that Broun used to separate the nominal taxa (including elytral breadth and convexity of the elytral disc) are sexually dimorphic in this species. The type specimen of B. fuscipictus View in CoL is a more abraded specimen than the type of B. terricola View in CoL .
