Identification. The SVL is up to 35 mm. The dorsum is rough and warty with black markings on a brownish-yellow skin. The ventral side is smooth and has tiny, light greyish speckles. The toes and fingers show dila- tions. The snout and head very small compared to the rotund body. This species can be confused with U. montanus (Jerdon, 1854) ; however, U. montanus is currently known from the southern tip of India and is more brightly colored compared to U. mormoratus ( Gururaja 2012; Peloso et al. 2015).
Habitat. The species was often found on the edges of roads, in leaf litter, or on forest floors. In peak breed- ing season, it was encountered calling from waterlogged paddy fields as well.
Distribution. This species is endemic to the Western Ghats.
