1. Phelipanche purpurea (Jacq.) Soják (1972: 130) View in CoL . Type:— AUSTRIA (lectotype here designated): „nº 97 Oropanche purpurea . Jacq.: non Lin: [Habitat in collibus siccioribus; supra Weinhaus (Weinhaus, village very close to the city of Vienna), & c., leg. Jacquin]” (LINN-HL-798-12!). Basionym:— Orobanche purpurea Jacquin (1762: 252) . Heterotypic synonyms:— Orobanche laevis L. (1753: 632), nom. rej. [ambiguous name]. Orobanche caerulea Villars (1787: 406) . Fig. 11D View FIGURE 11 .

Notes: —Here, we formally designated the Jacquin sheet in the Linnaean Herbarium as the lectotype because, as has been indicated in a similar occurrence by D’Arcy (1970: 557), the only specimen of this sheet is clearly the same as the plate of Jacquin (1775: t. 276). Thus, we maintained the usual concept of Jacquin’s plant.

Distribution: —Scattered localities in almost the entire area, especially in the Kotayk province (slopes of the Marmarik river), Lori province (Bazumi mountain range), Aragatsotn province (slopes of the Mt Aragats) or in the Syunik province (Meghri mountain range) ( Fig. 12).

General distribution: —Southern, western, central and southeastern Europe; northwards to the Baltic states and Russia (Eastern Europe) and southwards to Asia Minor, Caucasus to eastern India.

Habitat: —Rocky slopes, steppe, ruderal habitats, roadsides, dry hills, edges of forests, usually (1000)1300‒ 1900(2400) m.

Hosts: —Mainly parasitic on Achillea sp. , principally A. millefolium L., rarely on Tanacetum balsamitoides Sch. Bip. (in the southern part, Syunik province) ( Asteraceae ).

Phenology: —Flowering (May) June–July, fruiting July–August.

Conservation status: —Least Concern (LC). The species has rather wide distribution in Armenia (7 floristic regions). One small subpopulation grows in the Sevan National Park and one in Shikaghoh State Reserve.
