Distribution: —Single localities in central part, slopes of the Marmarik river (Kotayk province) and northwest of Lake Sevan (Gegharkunik province) ( Fig. 20).

General distribution: —From northwest Africa ( Algeria and Morocco) and western, central, southern and eastern Europe to the Caucasus, Asia Minor and Central Asia ( Kazakhstan, northeast of the Caspian Sea).

Habitat: —Rocky, loamy, sandy slopes, steppe, roadsides, usually 1900–2020 m.

Phenology: —Flowering end of June–July, fruiting July–August.

Conservation status: —Vulnerable* (VU*) – B 1 ab (iii) + 2 ab (iii). The extent of occurrence is less than 5000 km 2, the area of occupancy is less than 500 km 2. The species faces decline of the extent of occurrence and the area of occupancy as a result of overgrazing. Since the main area of distribution is situated beyond the borders of Armenia, the category of threat has been downgraded to VU. Populations consist usually of ca. 10–20 shoots, between Artavaz and Hankavan even over 50 shoots.
