Type:— CROATIA (lectotype designated by Jeanmonod, 2007: 195):—Fiume [Rijeka], 1842, Noë no. 1352 (G-00001468!; isolectotype: G-00074293!). Basionym:— Phelypaea nana Reichenbach f. (1862: 88) . Homotypic synonyms:— Orobanche nana (Rchb. f.) Beck (1890: 91) ; O. ramosa subsp. nana (Rchb. f.) Coutinho (1913: 566) ; Phelypaea ramosa var. simplex Visiani (1847: 180) ; P. mutelii var. nana Reut. in Candolle (1847: 9), nom. superfl. illeg. ( Jeanmonod 2007: 195); Phelipanche mutelii var. nana (Reut.) Uhlich & Rätzel in Uhlich (2015: 82), nom. illeg. ( Turland et al. 2018: Art. 6.10). Misapplied names:— Phelipanche oxyloba auct. (saltem p.p.), non Phelypaea oxyloba Reut. in Candolle (1847: 9); Phelipanche mutelii auct. (saltem p.p.), non Orobanche mutelii F.W. Schultz in Mutel (1835: 353). Fig. 11G View FIGURE 11 .

Distribution: —Scattered localities mainly in southern and southeastern parts (Vayots Dzor, Syunik provinces), rarely in northern and western (Tavush and Aragatsotn provinces) ( Fig. 31).

General distribution: —Mediterranean Basin, Balkans, Asia Minor, the Caucasus.

Habitat: —Rocky slopes, steppe, roadsides, edges of forests, 1300‒1700 m.

Hosts: —Parasitic only on native plants, here mainly on Caucalis platycarpos L. ( Apiaceae ), Medicago rigidula (L.) All., M. lupulina L. ( Fabaceae ).

Phenology: —Flowering May to June, fruiting June to July.

Conservation status: —Least Concern (LC). The species has rather wide distribution in Armenia (4 floristic regions). Populations usually from a few to 50 shoots.

Notes:—Within the entire range of the species various hosts families are shown, e.g. Asteraceae , Geraniaceae , Fabaceae , Oxalidaceae and Apiaceae .
