Menacanthus stramineus (Nitzsch) —chicken body louse

Ex sticky trap below Gallus gallus (domestic chicken) roost: NC, Swain Co., Oconaluftee, Frontier Farm, 11 Jun. 2003, W. K. Reeves.

This louse is distributed almost globally on chickens ( Emerson 1956, Durden 2002) but this is the first record from the Park.
