Diagnosis
Following Kishii (1993): compared to P. fortunei , general colouration and hairy patterns a little paler comparatively; vertical breadth of head between eyes and each eye width in upper apperance narrower (ca. 1.5 times) than P. fourtunei (ca. 1.6 times); mediolongitudinal canaliculation on frons more distinct and deeper; labrum wider, with anterior crenation conspicuous (simply projected medianly in P. fortunei ); male antennal flabella from 3rd joint to 10th longer respectively, namely flabellum length to joint length in 3rd 5.1–5.4 times (4.0–4.5 times in P. fortunei ); pronotal lateral sides linearly narrowed ahead in general (weakly sinuated at anterior corner in P. fortunei ); posterior margin of pronoum with crenation more distinct; anterior edge of scutellum less emarginated; elytral punctures denser and coarser; male genitalia with apico-lateral expansion of each paramere longer and narrower generally than P. fortunei , apical part of penis broader than that of P. fortunei .
Remarks
After examining a lot of Chinese materials from Dr Jiang and Japanese population of Pectocera -species, Kishii (1993) redefined this species formerly designed as fortunei in Japan proper. This time we found some materials from Zhejiang Province, which well correspond with hige of Kishii in morphology, and considering the geographical proximity of Zhejiang Province and Japan, it should be a new record of hige in China.
