Holotype M (with associated pupal exuviae): [Boeuf Mort], [Saül], French Guiana ( MNHP *); coll. E. Abonnenc; date not provided; no. 909A, B.
Culex manaensis was synonymized with Cx. antunesi Lane & Whitman by Valencia (1973: 73). The holotype, originally deposited in the IPG, was transferred to the MNHP by Dégallier & Claustre (1980: 143).
