Stichopogon inconstans (Wiedemann)
( Figs 9 View FIGURE 9 , 10 View FIGURE 10 )
Thereva inconstans Wiedemann, 1828: 538 .
Type locality. "Nubien” and “Egypten”. (deposited in ZMHB)
Diagnosis. Length: Body 5 mm, wing 3.2 mm. Minute species with golden-yellow mystax and yellow antenna; wings with veins yellowish in basal part; legs entirely yellow except for 5th tarsal segment which is as dark as claws; abdomen black, the 1st tergite grey, 2nd to 5th tergites with a grey band interrupted in middle.
Geographical distribution. Egypt, Ethiopia, Sudan, Yemen, UAE.
Local distribution. Unknown.
Specimens examined. UAE, Sharjah Desert Park, 1¯ 30.XI.2008 (1 ♂, 1 ♀).
Remark. This species was not mentioned in the papers by Engel (1924, 1925) and Efflatoun (1934, 1937). However, it was recorded in the two Palaearctic catalogues by Becker et al. (1903) and Lehr (1988) as well as in the list by Steyskal & El-Bialy (1967), as an Egyptian species recorded only from the literature where the type locality is given as "Nubien". El-Hawagry (2011) also considered the record of this species as questionable. In our study, we have included this species in the Egyptian fauna because the type locality in the original description was given by Wiedemann (1828) as "Nubien" and "Egypten". We examined two specimens of this species which were kindly sent to us by Dr. Bosák and have thus been able to include it in the key.
