Hyposoter tricolor ( Ratzeburg, 1844) View in CoL
Campoplex tricolor Ratzeburg, 1844 : type ♁ lost.
syn. Campoplex henaultii Desvignes, 1856
syn. Rhythmonotus singularis Schmiedeknecht, 1909 syn. nov.: synonymy proposed in Horstmann’s notes after examination of type material.
The combination of dark hind femora, darkened second sternite, and reddish hind tibiae with strongly darkened base and apex separate this species from other similar species. It is a well-known parasitoid of Abraxas grossulariata (Linnaeus) ( Lepidoptera , Geometridae , Ennominae) (e.g. Shaw et al. 2016). It has been recorded from most countries in northern and central Europe. We have seen specimens from the UK and Germany.
