Basionym: Pandanus eumekes H. St. John ex B.C. Stone (1978: 43) View in CoL . Type: — INDONESIA [NEW GUINEA]. West Papua Prov.: Sorong Dist., S of Radio Station Sorong, 7.IV.1954, P. Royen (holotype, L [L0050509]!).

Notes: — Stone (1978: 43) described this species based on its very long style ( “eumekes View in CoL ” from Greek meaning “of a good height”). Benstonea eumekes View in CoL differs from B. ihuana View in CoL by its narrower and smaller leaves (125 × 1–2 cm) (vs. 250 × 6 cm) and by its drupes that have a two third connate pileus with the upper part not deciduous at maturity and a long,

fine and linear stigma (vs. half connate, the upper part deciduous and a pyramidal, angular stigma). This species is only known by the type collection from the West Papua Province in Indonesia.
