Echinacrus Keifer, 1966 View in CoL View at ENA

Type species. Echinacrus rhamnicroceae Keifer, 1966a: 1–2 .

Diagnosis. Body fusiform; scapular setae (sc) and tubercles on rear shield margin, directed posteriorly; coxae I and coxae II each with 3 setae; legs with usual setae, empodium entire; opisthosoma with 5 ridges.

This genus consists of 5 species ( Amrine et al. 2003). Only one species has been recorded from Southeast Asia.

Remarks. The name Pentamerus was initially introduced by Sowerby, 1813 as a generic name. Özdikmen (2008) noted that Pentamerus Roivainen, 1951 is a junior homonym of the genus Pentamerus Sowerby, 1813 . However, Amrine et al. (2003) synonymized Echinacrus Keifer, 1966 with Pentamerus Roivainen, 1951 . Thus, Echinacrus Keifer, 1966 is the available name to use.
