Laphria nigrescens Ricardo, 1925 pp. 279-80 View in CoL

This distinctive species was originally described from Malawi. The male terminalia ( Fig. 4 View Figs 1-5 ) have not been adequately described before.

Fused gonopodal setae (4 in each group) short, straight and inwardly directed. Inner setae shorter than outer setae giving the fused group a characteristic shape ( Fig. 4 View Figs 1-5 ). Distal processes of gonopods blunt and inwardly directed.

Bell Marley (Durban Mus.) ; 3♀ 16 km. N. Josini, X1. I971, M. E. & B. J. Irwin, dry forest, 246 m elevation (Natal Mus.)
