Hypolepis obtusata (C.Presl) Kuhn, Festschr. Jubil. Königstädt. Realsch. Berlin View in CoL : 347 (Chaetopterides: 27). 1882.
Range:— Andes from Colombia to Bolivia (LP).
Ecology:— Rare; erect, terrestrial and epipetric in páramo vegetation; 4000–4300 m, 3800–4600 m elsewhere.
Notes:— Hypolepis obtusata is characterized by small leaves (15–60 × 2–11 cm), laminar axes with long catenate hairs (2–4 mm long, 20–35-celled), 2-pinnate to 2-pinnate-pinnatifid blades, and confluent sori (seemingly acrostichoid).
Hypolepis pteroides Mett. , from Colombia (perhaps Venezuela) to southern Peru, is a similar species and might also occur in Bolivia; it has larger leaves (60–100 × 20–35 cm) and 3-pinnate-pinnatifid blades.
