status

Dennstaedtia obtusifolia (Willd.) T.Moore, Index Fil. View in CoL 306. 1861.

Range:— Andes from Venezuela to Bolivia (BE, CO, LP, SC).

Ecology:— Common; terrestrial in humid forests, usually along streams and rivers and in shady areas; 300–3200 m.

Notes:— In the past, many specimens of D. obtusifolia from throughout tropical America were named D. arborescens , but the latter is now considered to be restricted to the Caribbean islands. There has also been confusion with D. dissecta (see discussions under D. dissecta and D. cornuta ), but the rounded sori differentiate D. obtusifolia from D. cornuta , whereas the larger fronds and more coarsely lobed blades separate it from D. dissecta .
