Dennstaedtia mathewsii (Hook.) C.Chr., Index Filic.
status

Dennstaedtia mathewsii (Hook.) C.Chr., Index Filic. View in CoL 218. 1905.

Range:— Ecuador to Bolivia (BE, CO, LP).

Ecology:— Fairly common; terrestrial in humid forests; 400–2550 m.

Notes:— This species is easily recognizable by the sori oriented in the plane of the blade, apically and usually projecting from the lobes, and by the long, narrow pinnules. It appears to be closely related to D. producta Mett. , from Colombia and Ecuador, and differs from it by the shorter soriate lobes and by having only one petiolar bud (vs. two buds in D. producta ).
