Dennstaedtia globulifera (Poir.) Hieron., Bot. Jahrb. Syst. View in CoL 34: 455. 1904.
Range:— Greater Antilles; southern U.S.A. (Texas) to Argentina ( Yañez et al. 2014) and Uruguay. In Bolivia, known from CH, CO, LP, SC, and TA.
Ecology:— Common; terrestrial in open areas, as well as inside forests in shady places; 600–2750 m.
Notes:— The perpendicular wings bordering the continuous grooves of the axes of the blades resemble those of Dennstaedtia bipinnata , which also lacks petiolar buds and has similar rhizome pubescence. However, the rhizomes in D. globulifera tend to be thicker and more robust and with shorter internodes than in D. bipinnata . Additionally, Yañez et al. (2104) reported D. glauca as having pubescent rhizomes but the features of the blades clearly separate these species.
