Blotiella R.M.Tryon, Contr. Gray Herb. View in CoL 191: 96. 1962.
In contrast to other genera in the family, the rhizomes of Blotiella are erect to shortly decumbent and stout, with multicellular hairs on the rhizomes. Blades are 1-or 2-pinnate-pinnatifid (1-pinnate-pinnatifid in Bolivia), sometimes scandent, generally pubescent with acicular, hyaline hairs, and with veins partially to wholly anastomosing and without included free veinlets. Sori are marginal, with sporangia borne on a commissural vein connecting the vein ends and covered by a well-modified marginal pseudo-indusium. Spores are ellipsoid and monolete.
A genus with 15–20 species in Africa, Madagascar, and the Mascarenes, and one species in tropical America ( Tryon 1962).
