Genus Novmammilla nom. nov.

Mammilla Wu 2011: 241 View in CoL (Mandibulata: Hexapoda: Hemiptera : Aclerdidae View in CoL ), preoccupied by Mammilla Schumacher 1817: 190 View in CoL (Mollusca: Gastropoda View in CoL : Littorinimorpha View in CoL : Naticidae View in CoL ).

Type species: Mammilla jinzhaiensis Wu 2011: 241–244 .

Remarks on nomenclatural change. Wu (2011) established the genus Mammilla with the type species Mammilla jinzhaiensis Wu 2011 . It is a valid genus in Hemiptera : Aclerdidae ( García Morales et al. 2016; Normark et al. 2019) that was previously placed in the family Diaspididae . The genus is monotypic and is known only from China.

Unfortunately, the name Mammilla Wu 2011 is preoccupied by Mammilla Schumacher 1817 , a marine snail genus belonging to Mollusca: Gastropoda: Littorinimorpha : Naticidae , based on the type species Mammilla fasciata Schumacher 1817 . Thus, Mammilla Wu 2011 is a junior homonym of Mammilla Schumacher 1817 . According to Article 60 of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature, a new replacement name for Mammilla Wu 2011 is proposed: Novmammilla Jian & Xing nom. nov.

Etymology. The replacement name is derived from the pre-existing name Mammilla , combined with the prefix “ nov - ” from the Latin “ novus ” meaning new; gender feminine.
