Lectotype (Natali in Jarvis & al., Regnum Veg. 127: 97-98. 1993): Herb. Linn. No. 1219.2 ( LINN) .

Generitype of Valantia Linnaeus.

Current name: Valantia muralis L. ( Rubiaceae ).

Note: Jafri (in Jafri & El-Gadi, Fl. Libya 65: 9. 1979) indicated 1219.1 (LINN) as the type but this sheet lacks a Species Plantarum number (i.e. “1”) and was a post-1753 addition to the herbarium, and not original material for the name.
