Type locality. Sicily, Nebrodi Mountains, San Fratello, Passo dei Tre, 900m ( Fig. 238 View FIGURES 235–238 ).
Diagnosis. A medium or large size Solariola (TL: 3.42 mm; BL: 2.82 mm) belonging to the doderoi group with slender body shape. Within the species group, it is recognisable by reddish–brown cuticle and the more elongate elytra with 16–17 punctures. Rostrum elongate (RL: 0.60 mm, RW: 0.40 mm, RL/RW: 1.50) with interocular pit not visible. Mesorostrum carinae parallel to sides. Forehead convex (FW/MW: ratio 2.30). Submentum and partially the mesorostrum with thick and elongate pappolepida. Antennae elongate and thin (SL: 0.60 mm, FL: 0.90 mm, SL/FL: 0.67). Pronotum slightly elongate (PL: 0.75 mm, PW: 0.70 mm, PL/PW: 1.07) with many echinopappolepida at base. Elytra quite sub-oval to sides, dorsally vaulted (EL: 2.00 mm, EW: 0.95 mm, EL/EW: 2.10).
Type series. Holotype female with following labels: (genitalia in DHMF) [transparent label] / ♀ [w, p] / Sicilia ( ME), San Fratello, P. [as]so dei Tre , 900m, 8. III. 2016, leg. Holotype description. Female. See Figs 12, 12a, 12b, 12c, 12d, 12e View FIGURES 12–12 . Body shape elongate and subcylindrical ( TL: 3.42 mm and BL: 2.82 mm). Red-brownish cuticle.
Rostrum elongate (RL: 0.60 mm, RW: 0.40 mm, RL/RW: 1.50), conical to sides with expanded pterygium. Epistome absent. Mesorostrum carinae parallel to sides. Submentum covered by whitish-yellowish pappolepida, also visible around mesorostrum. Interocular pit not visible. Forehead convex (FW/MW: ratio 2.30). Vestigial eyes flat and just visible.
Antennae thin and elongate (SL: 0.60 mm, FL: 0.90 mm, SL/FL: 0.67); AS ratio: 8.8.4.4.3.3.3.13. Scape clubbed, slightly more robust than funicle, curved at proximal third and progressively thickening towards apex. Funicle long and thin; all antennal segments with short and thin setae. Club three-segmented, elongate-oval, in length twice the width, densely covered by thin setae.
Pronotum slightly elongate (PL: 0.75 mm, PW: 0.70 mm, PL/PW: 1.07), wider in the middle and with many echinopappolepida at base. Scutellum visible.
Elytra elongate, quite sub-oval to sides, dorsally vaulted (EL: 2.00 mm, EW: 0.95 mm, EL/EW: 2.10), wider in the middle with just convex suture. Humeri rounded. Striae with 16–17 evident punctures, catenulate, quite deep. Interstriae quite convex with quite elongate and raised setae. Elytral declivity <60 degrees.
Legs quite slim and elongate with femora little clubbed. Protibia with seven acute spines on inner edge and an evident mucro on inner apical angle. Protibia slightly sinuous on inner edge and slightly curved in side view. Metatibia and mesotibia straight in side view. All tibia with noticeable apical comb.

Etymology. This species is named after our friend and colleague Petrioli (Andrea), specialist in epigean-endogean-hypogean ( Giachino & Vailati, 2010) beetles, in appreciation and gratitude of his cooperation in our study on Peritelini .
Ecology and Phenology. Collected by Berlese extractors from soil obtained sifting (under stones) the black earth on clay soil, of a Quercus ilex forest in March, at elevations from 900–1,000 m.
Main soil type. Chromic Cambisol ( European Soil Data Centre; Panagos et al. 2012) .
