Coreopsis angustifolia Linnaeus View in CoL , Species Plantarum 2: 908. 1753.

"Habitat in Virginia." RCN: 6555.

Basionym of: Rudbeckia angustifolia (L.) L. (1763) .

Lectotype (Reveal in Jarvis & Turland in Taxon 47: 359. 1998): Clayton 667 (BM-000051730).

Current name: Helianthus angustifolius L. View in CoL ( Asteraceae ).

Note: As noted by Reveal, Fernald (in Rhodora 49: 190, pl. 1084, f. 1. 1947) treated Clayton 667 as the type of Helianthus angustifolius L. (1753) , a name for which it is not original material. Heiser & al. (in Mem. Torrey Bot. Club 22(3): 186. 1969) were aware of this error, noting that Clayton 667 "is apparently the type of Coreopsis angustifolia ". Reveal subsequently formalised this conclusion.
