Plectromerus distinctus (Cameron) View in CoL , restored status from synonymy
Pentomacrus distinctus Cameron, 1910: 136 View in CoL . Type locality: Haiti, PortauPrince .
Plectromerus distinctus: Vitali & RezbanyaiReser, 2003: 3 View in CoL .
Discussion. Vitali & RezbanyaiReser (2003) synomymized Plectromerus distinctus (Cameron) with P. serratus (Cameron) . The type specimens (BMNH) of both species ( Figs. 1a–b View FIGURE 1 ) were examined carefully and differences between them suggested two species instead of one. The two species are very similar but can be distinguished by the following: P. distinctus has long, suberect hairs on the elytra and granulose punctures on the pronotum ( Fig. 1c View FIGURE 1 ), whereas P. serratus lacks the hairs and granules and has microsculpturing on the pronotum ( Fig. 1d View FIGURE 1 ).
