Cassidoides Mamaev, 1960 View in CoL

The three species previously known of this Palearctic genus were recently revised by Jaschhof & Jaschhof (2013: 297 ff.) on the basis of Swedish material. Meanwhile we have identified two additional, unnamed Cassidoides in Sweden, of which one is described in the present paper, while the other remains unnamed for the time being due to insufficient specimens.

Cassidoides is one of several genera of Porricondylini possessing basitarsal spines and fewer than 14 male flagellomeres (generic group Bb by Jaschhof & Jaschhof 2013: 166). The number of male flagellomeres varies from species to species: 12, the apical one composed of two bodies, in both C. corticalis (Mamaev) and the new species described here; 13, the apical one simple, in C. fulviventris (Mamaev) ; and 13, the apical one either simple or composed of two bodies, in C. fulvus (Kieffer) . Vein M 1+2 is always absent and M 4 largely so, but at least in C. fulviventris and C. fulvus M 4 is occasionally traceable as a short, diffuse line.
