Remarks. Andrena alfkenella is a widespread West Palaearctic species that shows variation between its spring and summer generation in the strength of the integumental sculpture (weaker in the summer generation). Some authors have separated A. pillichi (e.g. Schmid-Egger & Scheuchl 1997), but other authors take a broader position, including A. pillichi within A. alfkenella ( Gusenleitner & Schwarz 2002) . Pittioni (1948) listed A. pillichi from Italy from Torre Zuino in the Veneto region [=Torviscosa, Friuli-Venezia Giulia] from 5 Jul 1913 (NMW). Andrena pillichi was then subsequently listed by Pagliano (1994), but not by Comba (2019). It is not currently clear if A. pillichi is a valid species, and taxonomic revision is required, including the generation of genetic sequences from Hungary, the locus typicus. Until this point, we follow the conservative position of Gusenleitner & Schwarz (2002) and lump A. pillichi within A. alfkenella , a species distributed throughout Italy.
