Distribution: (Afrotropical): Angola, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, Gambia, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Oman, Seychelles, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, United Arab Emirates and Zimbabwe; (Palaearctic): Jordan.

Host-plants: Koto millet, Paspalum scrobiculatum L., Pigeon grass, Setaria pumila and Sorghum , Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench (all Poaceae ). Additional material of this species, or its subspecies (listed below), has been reared from Paspalum orbiculare G. Forst. and Pigeon grass, Setaria pumila (Poir.) Roem. & Schult. (as synonym S. pallidifusca (Schumach.) Stapf & C.E. Hubb. ) (both Poaceae ).

Parasitoid: Phaenocarpa Foerster sp. ( Hymenoptera : Braconidae : Alysiinae ).
