Type material. U.S.A.: California: Holotype female. El Dorado County, below Echo Summit, 9.vii.1958, V.D. Roth ( AMNH).

Etymology. The specific name is a noun in apposition taken from the type locality.

Diagnosis. The male of C. echo is unknown. The female is diagnosed by the form and configuration of the vulval components ( Figs 21–22 View FIGURES 20–22 ) and is only likely to be confused with the females of C. devius or C. wilsonia spec. nov. Distinguishing the females of these three species is discussed under C. devius .

Description. Ventral tibia I macrosetae 2-1p-2-1p-0. Femora lightly banded.

Female: (n=1). See note under description of C. devius . Atrium ( Figs 20–21 View FIGURES 20–22 ) very small, about 1/4 width of vulva. Spermathecal heads ( Figs 21–22 View FIGURES 20–22 ) exit vulval ducts ventrally basal to region enclosed by copulatory ducts, deflected dorso-laterally.

Measurements (n=1). CL 2.7, CW 2.00, SL 1.33, SW 1.27.

Distribution. ( Fig. 32 View FIGURE 32 ). Known only from the type locality in El Dorado County in the northern Sierra Nevada.
