Rubrocuneocoris anandros n. sp.

( Figs. 3 View FIGURE 3 , 7 View FIGURE 7 , 12 View FIGURE 12 )

Diagnosis. Distinguished from any other Thai phylines by its tiny size; pale orange brown basic coloration ( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 ); shiny dorsum; deep red antennal segment I; a partly interrupted rouge streak on pleura ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 ); narrowly rouge spots along posterior margin of corium; rouge apex of cuneus; and sanguineous, reticular pattern on metafemur ( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 ). By a combination of these characters, this new species also can be separable from any other Asian congeners.

Description. Female: Body generally pale orange brown, oval, typical phyline shape; dorsal surface shining, with uniformly distributed, pale, simple setae. Head with some sanguineous spots. Antenna yellowish brown; segment I deep red; basal half of segment II with sanguineous, reticular markings. Labium shiny pale brown; segment I with sanguineous spots basally. Pleura shining, with a rouge, partly interrupted streak from propleuron to ventral half of ostiolar peritreme. Apex of corium with a few, sanguineous spots along cuneal fracture; apex of cuneus sanguineous. Leg pale brown, partly with reddish spots or marks; metafemur speckled with sanguineous spots posteriorly; protibia with a sanguineous stripe. Abdomen pale brown, partly speckled with reddish or whitish patterns. Genitalia as in Fig. 12 View FIGURE 12 ; bursa copulatrix furnished with complicated membranous structure; sclerotized ring small. Male: Unknown.

Measurements. Total body length 2.35; length from apex of clypeus to cuneal fracture 1.54; width of head across eyes 0.63; vertex width 0.27; lengths of antennal segments I −IV 0.15, 0.64, 0.31, 0.25; labial length 0.96; mesal length of pronotum 0.38; basal width of pronotum 0.91; maximum width across hemelytron 1.19; and lengths of metafemur, tibia and tarsus 0.80, 1.20, 0.29.

Etymology. From Greek, anandros (= single, alone, husbandless), referring to this new, rare species, currently represented only by a single female.

Remarks. Although this new species is currently known only by a single female, its identity and placement in Rubrocuneocoris are evidently warranted, on the basis of the distinctive color pattern and form of the female genitalia.
