Sejanus adustopaca n. sp.

( Figs. 3 View FIGURE 3 , 4 View FIGURE 4 A, 7, 9)

Diagnosis. Recognized by its tiny size; reddish brown to fuscous, oval body ( Figs. 3 View FIGURE 3 , 4 View FIGURE 4 A); brownish, opaque hemelytron, without white macula at cuneal base; and form of male genitalia ( Fig. 9 View FIGURE 9 ). This new species is most similar in several facies (e.g., brownish coloration, shape of parameres) to the Australian S. brittoni Carvalho & Gross, 1982 , from which S. adustopaca is readily distinguished from S. brittoni by the ovoid and tiny body, uniformly brownish dorsum, unicolorously brown antenna, and not apically broadened endosoma; in S. brittoni , the body is more elongate in male, the antennal segment II is bicolorous, and the apical part of the endosoma is broadened (for detailed information on characters of S. brittoni , see Menard & Schuh, 2011).

Description. Male: Body reddish brown to fuscous, ovoid; dorsal surface weakly shining, with uniformly distributed, pale, simple, reclining setae. Head brown, with rather wide vertex. Antenna unicolorously brown. Labium yellow brown, shining, little exceeding apex of mesocoxa; segment IV reddish. Pronotum short, reddish brown; scutellum dark brown, weakly arched; pleura uniformly brown. Hemelytron opaque, dark brown, somewhat roughened; anterior parts of corium and embolium tinged with red; membrane smoky brown. All coxae and legs shiny pale or yellowish brown, immaculate; metafemur with reddish apical half, tumid, 2.5 times as long as broad; claw with a narrowly developed pulvillus. Genitalia as in Fig. 9 View FIGURE 9 ; endosoma C-shaped, small, minutely rugulose apically. Female: Unknown.

Measurements. Total body length 1.96; length from apex of clypeus to cuneal fracture 1.35; width of head across eyes 0.54; vertex width 0.22; lengths of antennal segments I −IV 0.12, 0.53, 0.25, 0.18; labial length 0.77; mesal length of pronotum 0.30; basal width of pronotum 0.77; maximum width across hemelytron 0.96; and lengths of metafemur, tibia and tarsus 0.61, 0.86, 0.25.

Etymology. From Latin adustus (= brown) + opacus (opaque), referring to the general appearance of this new species; an adjective.

Remarks. The generic placement of this new species in Sejanus is, in spite of lacking typical color pattern, currently based on the male genital structure. Incidentally, the present new species is rather similar to a certain species of Decomioides Schuh , but the shape of the endosoma does not fit the latter genus (endosoma always with a distinct, median shaft).
