The material of this species was not available for study. The male imago can be separated from other members of the group by having a strong apical seta on the antenna combined with a more triangular inferior volsella than in Pseudosmittia xanthostolus View in CoL and P. brevifurcata View in CoL . The female has horn-like extensions of the gonocoxite according to Tokunaga (1964: 520). According to Tokunaga (1936 plate viii, fig. 5) it also may have an accessory lobe of the inferior volsella. The description of Tokunaga is reiterated by Saether (2006). The species is known only from Japan.
