No postcubital fork, anal lobe of wing weak or reduced, R 4+5 often ending proximal to M 3+4; inner tibial spur of mid leg present; anal point present except in P. pinhoi , with conspicuous microtrichia to apex; no superior volsella, inferior volsella usually without an accessory lobe,; transverse sternapodeme with reduced oral projections. The paraphyletic topei group contains a number of related species of variable position and with no females or immatures known.
