Hyale View in CoL cf maroubrae Stebbing

( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 )

Hyale maroubrae Stebbing, 1899a: 405 , pl. 32C.—Stebbing,1906: 563.—Barnard, 1916: 229.—Sheard, 1937: 26.—Ruffo, 1950: 56.—Hurley, 1957: 913, figs 51–71.—Myers, 1985, 72, fig. 54.

Material examined. 2 males (OUMNH.ZC.2002.24.116) Outside Pinchers, from floating algae ( Turbinaria ornata ), leaves on driftline; 07°19.839'N, 134°24.154'E; leg. S. De Grave & C. Burras, 22 May 2002; 1 male, 2 females, (OUMNH.ZC.2002.24.117) Inside Pinchers, light trap sample, sandy callianasid flat, - 3m depth; 07°20.407'N, 134°25.755'E; leg. S. De Grave & C. Burras, night 27th–28th May 2002.

Remarks. This material agrees well with the description of H. maroubrae Stebbing 1899 a, except that the male gnathopod 1 does not have a produced palm as in that species. Present material is quite small; however, (3.0 mm) as opposed to 5.0 mm in type material. It may therefore not be fully mature.

Distribution. Indo-Pacific.
