Description
Length: 7 –14.5 mm (44 specimens)
Head including eyes broader than apex of pronotum; finely punctate; with long, dark and short, white pubescence; antennae red, club dark (often only terminal segment).
Pronotum longer than broad (length:width ratio 1.1); lateral margin subparallel, strongly constricted basally; glossy green to blue; coarsely punctate, anterior to transverse depression less coarsely punctate and sligthly obscure; with dark and pale pubescence.
Elytral ground color completely reduced (then blue), or orange to red ground color reduced to one (= ab. biguttatus (Corporaal, 1948)), two (= ab. bisbiguttatus (Corporaal, 1948)) or three (= ab. revoili (Champenois, 1900)) spots; the remaining fasciae blue, purple or green; apical spot of ground color mostly reaching the lateral margin, but not the suture; sometimes reduced to a narrow dash.
Elytra almost two and a half times as long as broad (length:width ratio 2.43); lateral margin parallel; densely and deeply punctate, irregular; diameter of punctures two to three times larger than intervals, punctation at base finer; apex variable: bevelled and often acute with tooth, sometimes with several small teeth, or apex not bevelled and without tooth; sparse pubescence, composed of short, dark and pale hairs.
Legs orange to yellowbrown; hind tibiae curved; pubescence on lower surface white, with dark hairs on upper surface.
Ventral surface green, abdomen orange to yellow; thorax with dense, white pubescence, abdomen with sparse pubescence.
Aedeagus, pygidium and male sternum VIII, see figs. 16–19.
