Holotype male: Body size 2.45 mm long, 1.25 mm wide. Very robust, oval, dark reddish brown, except antennae, tarsi, and tibiae paler, with moderately complex pattern of scales ( Figures 1 and 2 , dorsal and lateral views): from above scales sparse, slender and pale brown on disc and anterior 1/2 of sides of pronotum and much of elytral intervals, pale fulvous, and broader on elytral intervals 3–6, broad and white in small spots on anterior margin of pronotum lateral to midline, on posterior 1/2 of sides of pronotum, and in narrow area anterior to scutellum; broad and white on elytra on basal 1/2 of interval 1 and small spot on interval 2 at middle, on basal 1/6 of intervals 2–7, on apical 1/6 of intervals 1–2, and in narrow oblique band across intervals 7–10 at middle, and along posterior 2/3 of elytral margins; on front and beneath dense, broad and white except sparser on mesepisterna; medial portions of sides of pronotum and mesosternum with smaller fulvous scales; rostrum glabrous beyond antennal insertions; anterior femora with narrow oblique glabrous area at middle ( Figure 3 ). Head strongly convex in dorsal view, rostrum carinate along midline for middle 1/2 of length, finely punctate, very weakly arcuate, 0.70 mm long, antennae inserted at basal 1/3. Pronotum 0.85 mm long, 0.95 mm wide, broadest beyond middle with lateral margins very shallowly arcuate, moderately convex in lateral view, coarsely punctate. Elytra 1/4 wider than pronotum, elytral striae broader than intervals, coarsely punctate. Mesosternum shallowly concave; anterior margin of metasternum unmodified. In lateral view first abdominal ventrite nearly horizontal, very shallowly concave along midline, second ventrite convex. Legs relatively short, unarmed, posterior femora weakly carinate on apical 2/3. Genitalia illustrated in Figure 4 .

Allotype female: Body size, 2.70 mm long, 1.35 mm wide. As male but first and second abdominal ventrites strongly convex.

Biology. Most specimens were collected in flight interception traps (FITs) and Lindgren traps set in an ebonyguayacan plant community.

Etymology. Named in honor of Edward G. Riley, curator of the Texas A & M University insect collection, collector of the type series, and student of the Chrysomelidae .

Discussion. This species is similar to Copturomorpha albomaculata Champion , described from Guatemala, but is reddish brown rather than black in ground color and has a somewhat different pattern of scales. It is also somewhat similar to undescribed species from the Caribbean Mexican states of Chiapas and Campeche. Type specimens measure 1.90–2.80 mm long (mean = 2.50 mm for 27 specimens).
