Type Locality: Mexico, Tamaulipas, Altamira.

Vernacular Names: Tropical Pocket Gopher.

Distribution: Vicinity of Altamira and Tampico in SE Tamaulipas ( Mexico).

Conservation: IUCN – Vulnerable.

Discussion: Elevated to species status by Alvarez (1963 a). Reviewed by Baker and Williams (1974, Mammalian Species No. 35) and Williams and Genoways (1977).
