REMARKS

Based on its position in the molecular phylogenetic trees and on its morphology, Eumenescolex emiliae Qiu & Bouché, 1998 is clearly nested within a clade of Corsican Scherotheca with two pairs of seminal vesicles ( Sc. altarocca Marchán, Decäens & Domínguez , n.sp. and Sc.qiui Marchán, Decäens & Domínguez , n. sp.). We consequently propose to transfer this species into the genus Schecotheca under the new combination Scherotheca emiliae n. comb. Other species currently assigned to Eumenescolex (i.e., Eumenescolex pereli ( Bouché, 1972) , Eumenescolex heideti Qiu & Bouché, 1998 , Eumenescolex gabriellae Qiu & Bouché, 1998 , Eumenescolex simplex (Zicsi, 1981) and Eumenescolex zoltani Szederjesi, Pavlíček & Csuzdi 2021 ) should be included in molecular phylogenetic analyses before a full synonymy of Eumenescolex and Scherotheca can be proposed.
