Persanura hyrcanica sp. nov.
( Figs 1–10 View FIGURES 1 – 10 , Tab. 1 View TABLE 1 and 2 View TABLE 2 )
Diagnosis. Habitus typical of the tribe Neanurini ( Cassagnau 1989) . Buccal cone short and relatively wide. Mandible with 6 teeth. Labium with 11+11 chetae, papillae x absent. Head with 3 chaetae Oc, chaetae A, B, C, D and E. Chaeta O absent. Tubercles Dl and (L+So) on head with 4 and 7 chaetae respectively. Tubercles De on th. II and III with 3 chaetae. Tubercles L on abd. III and IV with 3 and 5 chaetae respectively. Furca rudimentary without microchaetae. Tibiotarsi with relatively short chaetae.
Material examined (all on slides). Holotype, female, soil and litter, oak-hornbeam forest, Semeskandeh forest, 5 km SE of Sari (N36°32'55", E53°9'25" / 190m a.s.l.), Sari county, Mazandaran province, Hyrcanian Forest, Iran, leg. M. Mehrafrooz Mayvan. Paratypes: 1 female, 3 males, same data as holotype. Holotype and 3 paratypes are deposited at the Institute of Environmental Biology, Wrocław University, Poland and 1 paratype in the collection of the Department of Plant Protection, Faculty of Crop Sciences, Sari University of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, Iran.
a) Cephalic chaetotaxy––dorsal side.
b) Chaetotaxy of antennae.
Etymology. The name is derived from the terra typica ––the Hyrcanian Forest.
Description. Body length (without antennae): 0.85–1.1 mm (holotype: 1 mm). Colour of the body grayishblue. 3 + 3 medium size, darkly pigmented eyes.
Types of dorsal ordinary chaetae: macrochaetae Ml relatively long and thin, narrowly sheathed, slightly serrated, apically rounded ( Figs 2, 7, 8–9 View FIGURES 1 – 10 ); macrochaetae Mc short and thin, narrowly sheathed, feebly serrated, pointed at apex; mesochaetae and microchaetae short, very thin and pointed.
Head. Bucal cone wide and not pointed ( Figs 1, 3 View FIGURES 1 – 10 ). Labrum with ventral sclerification as in Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1 – 10 . Labral chaetotaxy 0/0, 4 ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1 – 10 ). Chaetotaxy of labium and group Vi as in Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1 – 10 . Mandible strong, with 2 basal and a distal tooth subdivided in 4 apical toothlets ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 1 – 10 ). Maxilla styliform as in Fig. 6 View FIGURES 1 – 10 .
Chaetotaxy of antennae as in Tab. 1 View TABLE 1 and in Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1 – 10 . S–chaetae on ant. IV long and moderately thickened ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1 – 10 ), S7 longer and more curved than others. Chaetotaxy of head as in Figs 1–3 View FIGURES 1 – 10 and in Tab. 1 View TABLE 1 . Tubercles L and So fused, with 7 chaetae. Tubercle Dl with 4 chaetae. Chaetae D free. Chaetae A distinctly shorter than chaetae B. Tubercle Di differentiated.
Thorax, abdomen, legs. Chaetotaxy of th. and abd. as in Figs 2, 7 8–10 View FIGURES 1 – 10 and in Tab. 2 View TABLE 2 . Sensillar formula of the body: 022/11111, s-microchaeta on Dl of th. II present. Body s-chaetae fine and smooth, about twice shorter than nearby macrochaetae Ml ( Figs 2, 7, 10 View FIGURES 1 – 10 ). Tubercle De on th. I with one chaeta. Dorsal side of th. and abd. without free chaetae. Tubercle Dl on abd. IV with two chaetae. Tubercles Di on abd. V separate, with chaetae Di 2 as Mcc or microchaetae ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 1 – 10 ). Chaeta Di 1 of abd. V shorter than chaeta Di 1 of abd. IV ( Figs 7–9 View FIGURES 1 – 10 ). Chaeta Ve1 on abd. II usually absent. Furca rudimentary without microchaetae. Tubercle L on abd. IV without free chaetae. Abd. IV with 10 chaetae Ve. Chaetae L’ and Vl on abd. V absent. Chaetotaxy of legs as in Tab. 2 View TABLE 2 . Chaeta M present. Claw relatively long, without inner denticle.
Remarks. The new species is most similar to Kalanura babenkoi Smolis, 2007 by the separation of tubercles Di on abd. V and the presence of dorsal tubercles. The differences between them are presented above in the generic discussion and in Tab. 3 View TABLE 3 .
