Syringophilus zenadourae Clark 1964: 83 , figs 22–23.

Peristerophila zenadourae Kethley 1970: 56 .

This species was described from Zenaida macroura View in CoL from USA ( Clark 1964). Because Clark’s diagnosis is not detailed, we redescribed this species.

Redescription. FEMALE. Total body length 620–645. Gnathosoma . Peritremes M-shaped, each transverse branch with 1–2 chambers, each longitudinal branch with 5–6 chambers. Movable cheliceral digit edentate. Stylophore reaching propodonotal shield, 200 (195) long. Idiosoma . Propodonotal shield weakly sclerotized with indistinct margins, bearing bases of setae ve, si, se, and c1, punctated laterally near bases of setae si. Setae se and c1 situated at same level or setae c1 slightly anterior to level of setae se. Hysteronotal shield divided onto 3 fragments, 2 small patches surrounding bases of setae d2 and 1 rectangular fragment between bases of setae d1, fused to punctated pygidial shield. Bases of setae d1 situated closer to d2 than to e1. Legs. All coxal fields distinctly sclerotized, without punctations. Apodemes I weakly divergent, not fused to apodemes II. Length ratio of coxal fields I and II 1.2:1. Fan-like setae p’ and p’’ of legs III and IV with about 20 tines. Lengths of setae: ve 85 (70); si 140 (170); c2 220 (235); se 235; c1 240 (240); d1 (200); f1 30 (35–45); h1 30 (35–45); d2 225 (250); e1 180 (185); f2 200 (185–195); ag1 180 (185–195); ag2 55 (55–65); ag3 230 (225–285); g1 (50–60); g2 (50–60); ps1 15 (15–20); ps2 20 (20); tc’III–IV (25); tc”III–IV (65); sc3 70 (50–55); sc4 50 (45–55); 3b 80 (75); 3c 105 (110).

MALE. Unknown. Material examined. Two females (GSS#2555b) from Zenaida macroura (Linnaeus) ( Columbiformes :

Columbidae ) [type host]: USA, San Francisco , 29 March 2004, coll. G. Spicer. Material is deposited at AMU. Ten females and 1 nymph ( AMU –SYR. 39) from Zenaida auriculata (Des Murs) ; ARGENTINA, Rio
