Material examined. Petro-UFS—64 (9 M, 3 F, 1 OF); size range: 41.72 ≤ CW ≤ 71.12 mm; average: CW = 54.35 ± 8.73 mm; CZUFS CRU- 00018. Penaeid—7 (3 M, 4 F); size range: 30.67 ≤ CW ≤ 51.22 mm; average: CW = 41.71 ± 7.43 mm; CZUFS CRU- 00226.

Stations. Petro-UFS—1, 2, 7, 9, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16, and 17; Penaeid—2, 3, 8, and 9.

Distribution. Western Atlantic—USA ( Georgia, Gulf of Mexico), Antilles, Venezuela, Guyana, French Guiana, and Brazil (from Amapá to Rio Grande do Sul). Eastern Atlantic—From Guinea to South Africa ( Melo 1996).

Ecological notes. From shallow waters to 160 m, on mud, sand, and shell bottoms ( Melo 1996). Sometimes carries anemones and barnacles on its carapace ( Melo 2008, 2010).
