Prionocerides Lacordaire, 1857: 411 [stem: Prionocer-]. Type genus: Prionocerus Perty, 1831. Comment: Prionocerites was used earlier by Laporte (1840a: 275) but this name was treated as a lapsus calami for Priocerites Laporte (1834b: 33) by Lawrence and Newton (1995: 871).
